Question: How do I convert a decimal number to hours and minutes?
Short Answer:
Using a calculator:
To convert Decimal to Time (hh:mm) .
Multiple the decimal portion
of the number (0.xx) by 60.
Example: 0.25 x 60 = 15 minutes
Using Excel:
To convert Decimal to Time (hh:mm) .
Divide the number by 24
using this formula: =hours/24.

Stanislav Petrov was a Russian, Lieutenant for the Soviet Union Air Defense forces. He was working late one night in September 1983 when his radar showed five incoming missiles from the United States. Instead of reporting the missiles which would have resulted in a nuclear war, he rechecked the system and realized it was probably a malfunction. In this one minute where Steven made his decision, he averted a possible nuclear war.
